In this world anyone who is different has a disorder. I get called autistic a lot and I'm really not I just still enjoy childish things and still have an imagination.

two of My cousins do have a disorder and they act a little different but from what I can tell they still mostly think the same way as the so called normal people just a lot nicer and a lot more fun and creative/imaginative.

Depends on how you look at it. I find most kids with some sort of so called disorder to be a lot nicer and more fun than so called normal people.

Autism does exist and there are people who can't think right at all. If u r one of those people then it is a tragedy but not all disorders are a complete tragedy.

I don't have autism, I have the related but quite different Asperger's Syndrome. Anyone who would say this about either should die a painful merciless death.

I'm Autistic and I don't see myself as suffering. When are people going to realize that we are human beings just like everyone else? We all have our likes, dislikes, quirks, talents, faults, ect...

I know one woman who thinks that "autistic children are useless at a mainstream School." As someone with autism, that comment is ignorant. I know plenty of autistic people who attended mainstream school and they turn out all right. But to make things ironic, this woman who hates people with disabilities work with people with disabilities.

I myself have Aspergers.

My family fully supports me.

I hate the parents who treat an autism diagnosis like a death sentence.

Also, as a sports fan, I cannot understand why the NBA and Nascar are partnering with Autism Speaks.

Did you guys know that autism doesn't exist?
Its just an excuse for parents not teaching or disciplining their kids.
Yep! Its that easy to stop your abortion from becoming a mumbling retard who has a fetish for Sonic the Hedgehog pregnancy!

..this is a long time after you posted that...but I have autism. Its not as bad as it seems...sometimes. My suggestions are, keep him away from big loud places, they might overstimulate him and cause violent behavior. Hire an aid, not just any aid. An aid that has experience with kids with autism. Treat him like you would any other kid...thats all we want...we dont understand why we get 'special treatment' just because we are different...called retarded because we are different...we just dont get it.

that's what im hoping we're doing right. :( but with a child who's nonverbal its so difficult to tell if we're doing a good job. :( right now we are taking him to the doctor because we suspect an ear infection but we're not sure entirely. medical bills are piling up in addition to therapy. he cant tell me whats wrong and it makes me cry

My brother is actually nonverbal :) its not that he cant, he can, its just harder. It took my brother a long time but he is talking now, not perfectly, but one of the main things he says is "Hey mom, can I have a poptart please?" if you want know know anything or if you need help, I can hook you up with my mom? She works with kids with autism...though you may not be able to meet in person you could exchange notes here on DA? I promise she's a good person and she has a degree in working with kids with special ed. Its going to be hard, but you can do it. Never ever forget, you can do it.

Thank you! Im always open for help and information. If she has any tips on potty training a 4 year old who refuses to go number 2 on the potty, that'd be super helpful at this time and any help for doctor appointments and less screaming at the dentist would be best <3 good news today though is Logan isn't sick according to doctor, but we're still having trouble determining why he's crying and covering his ears. Im thinking a sound in my house is bothering him :( but its so quietright now, so im confused. he's sitting in my living room with Nemo on and seems happy right now. ITs so hard to figure him out sometimes. :(

Yeah :) I'll text her right now and get you guys set up. Also a tip c: something in the house may be bothering him like maybe a high pitched noise or even your heater or AC. Might be that he doesnt want to be talked to. There are so many variables you have to consider c: crying can be anything from the noise to he got in trouble and is regretting it~

Well, it started this morning. I was still in bed and my husband was in the shower and then I suddenly heard my son screaming and I went to comfort him. Thought it was a night terror until he kept rubbing his ear against me. So we rushed him to the pediatrician and they found nothing :( I try asking him, but he just can't really answer. He also has been touching his neck a lot by the ear bothering him. Maybe this is something I'm not recognizing?

That'd be great of your mom! Thanks you! <3

I was once falsely diagnosed with autism, and even after that I still don't know as much about it as I'd like. Ignorance of the general public is a problem not just for the autistic, but for all those who have mental problems. People with PTSD are to embaressed to get treatment and suffer because of it.

would you like to join a group that is trying to break the stereotype of autism? I am autistic and co finder of the group  the autistic angels. basically its a group where the curious, ones who have it, gives a chance where we can mingle and possible help/do requests for people who never really met a autistic. slowly breaking the wall of stereotypes hopefully. or if your just joining just to chat with me that's A ok with me to :)

Neko Emoji-15 (Angry) [V1] i totally agree its complete trash most people thinking that way or that its just a kid thing. im 20 and have it. its like if oyu have the syntoms as an adult your doomed and it only fades away with treatment as the kid grows
